Annual Backpack Campaign // Supporting Students Like Liam

A little boy named Liam lived in a small village in remote Alaska. Liam was excited to start the new school year, but as the first day of school drew near, he began to worry. He knew his family didn’t have much money, and he didn’t have any new school supplies like the other kids. He didn’t even have a backpack to carry his books and pencils.

On the morning of the first day of school, Liam woke up early and dressed in his best clothes. While walking to school, he saw all the other kids with their new backpacks and felt ashamed and embarrassed. When he arrived at school, he watched the other kids pull out their new school supplies and felt worse and worse. Some of the kids even made fun of him for coming to school with just an old, worn-out notebook.

But just as Liam was about to give up hope, something unexpected happened. The teacher noticed he didn’t have any school supplies and asked him to come up to the front of the class. She gave him a brand-new backpack filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, and even a calculator.

Liam was overwhelmed with gratitude and relief. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He no longer felt ashamed or embarrassed, and he could focus on his studies and making new friends.

Liam’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of education, and the impact that having the right tools can have on a child’s success in school. Unfortunately, not every child has access to the supplies they need to learn and grow. In fact, according to the US Census Bureau, nearly 16% of children in the United States live in poverty, which often means they cannot afford basic school supplies like backpacks, pencils, and notebooks.

But we can help change this. We can make a tangible difference in their lives by donating backpacks and school supplies to the Yulista backpack campaign. Just like the teacher in Liam’s story, we can provide the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Donating backpacks and school supplies doesn’t just benefit individual children; it also has a ripple effect on their families, their communities, and the world. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and by investing in the education of underprivileged children, we are investing in a brighter future for everyone.

If you want to make a real difference in the world, consider donating towards backpacks and school supplies during this year’s campaign. Your donation could help a child like Liam feel empowered, inspired, and ready to take on the world. Together, we can help ensure every child has the tools to succeed. Donate here today.
