We are excited to introduce Kim Jorgensen as Legal Counsel for Yulista, based in Huntsville, Alabama.
Kim is originally from Kotzebue, Alaska, a Native village 26 miles above the Arctic Circle, where she grew up. She is Inupiaq, a proud NANA Regional Corporation (NANA) and Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corporation (KIC) Shareholder, and an enrolled tribal member of the Native Village of Kotzebue. NANA is the regional Native corporation for northwest Alaska.
Before joining us, Kim served as the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, and Senior Vice President for NANA Regional Corporation for six years and was based in the Anchorage, Alaska office. Before that, she worked as Corporate Strategic Counsel and Senior Director of Government Affairs for Ukpeagvik Inupiat Corporation (UIC), the village Native corporation for Barrow, Alaska (now Utqiagvik). Based in Washington, DC, she supported UIC’s government contracting group, Bowhead, for six years. Kim’s legal career also includes serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Anchorage, Alaska, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Kim holds a B.A. in Native American Studies from Dartmouth College and a law degree from UCLA School of Law, where she focused on Federal Indian Law and Tribal Legal Development.
