Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month

September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Recent statistics show that suicide is the twelfth leading cause of death in the United States, claiming the lives of over 45,000 Americans each year.

We are devoted to elevating the lives of the people we serve. In our field, we work alongside and for our veterans, active-duty warfighters, and Shareholders. Unfortunately, suicide is more prevalent in these communities due to their life experiences. We want those struggling to know you can lean on us. Suicide knows no boundaries and we recognize the need to provide those suffering with suicide prevention resources and training, because every single life matters. Our goal is to provide those struggling with the necessary tools to assist with prevention and intervention so that we can keep ourselves, our loved ones, and each other safe. Throughout this month, we will be raising awareness and sharing tips for suicide prevention through our social media platforms. NEW National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 988!
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022.

When one of us is hurting, we all hurt. The reality is that suicide is preventable and with the proper training and tools, each one of us can make a difference.   If we can help someone who is hurting, or save someone we care about, then we’ve achieved our goal of no more lives lost to suicide.

Remember, you are not alone. We are in this together.
